Kids grow up too quickly – any of us who have one know that!

But despite the rapid passing of time, some memories remain all too fresh in our minds, such as the feeling of dread when you’re out in public with your newborn, and the first signs of an epic screaming fit occur.

Try as you might, you’re not going to be able to ward off every public tantrum your child has. So unless you want to spend your child’s formative years cooped up in your house, you’re going to have to suffer this particular form of public shame.

Luckily for all new parents, there are plenty of people who empathize during these public meltdowns – and for new mom Luci Hatami, there was one dad who went one step further than most.

Luci Hatami was enjoying breakfast at a cafe with her 8-month-old son when the little one suddenly started crying. Luci immediately felt her stress level rising as she tried to calm her son and cause as little disruption to the people around her as possible.

But it was then that a boy at a nearby table said something that devastated her.

“That moment when you’re in a restaurant trying to have breakfast whilst your 8-month-old son is crying and a boy (early 20s) tuts muttering, ‘I wish she’d shut that thing up’,” Luci wrote in a Facebook post.

Luci, rightfully upset, was just trying to get a response together when an unexpected ally came to her defense.

“Before I could even respond his dad come up behind him, clips him round the ear and says ‘What and you think you were perfect? You were a right little sod. Now stop being a brat, go up there and apologize to her and offer to get her breakfast as she clearly has her hands full’,” Luci writes.

Great job, dad! It’s great to see parents have some understanding of each other – parenting isn’t easy for anyone! Luckily, Luci got to enjoy the rest of her breakfast with an extra helping hand.

“I got my buffet breakfast with waiter service along with a lovely coffee… Thank you to that dad who even after 20 odd years still remembers the difficulties of being parents to babies!”
